These little hardcover French texts are lovely, but I’m strictly reblogging this because an Alfred de Vigny book is hiding underneath the Victor Hugo. Vigny: forever eclipsed by Hugo. Le pauvre.
I *really* want to know what Vigny text that is — if anyone knows the image source, that would be fabulous.

I almost just passed out when I saw this drawing of Marie Dorval, who just so happens to have been the mistress of Alfred de Vigny and the star of his play, Chatterton, which I’m currently translating. This picture isn’t doing her any favors, by the way…
